Delayed

These memories came knocking on my door last night.

Congregating in the stairwell and laughing.

Like a surprise birthday party that showed up late.

And yes, I still think of you fondly

Your beauty stills shines

In the small ways that won my affection.

In the days of immersion

The nights intertwined

The hours of quiet as I listened to you sleep.

There is still a sound that still resonates with your name.

I can still feel it deep inside.

Pulling out my best and my worst to the surface

Challenging my faith and confusing the meaning.
